What we collect through this site
- What you type into a form. The contact form and the checklist tool collect your name, an email address or phone number, the type of matter you select, and anything you write in the message box.
- Basic analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, see which pages are read, and record when someone clicks a phone number or submits a form. This is aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use it to identify you personally.
- Standard server logs. Our host (Cloudflare) records requests, including IP address, for security and performance.
Why we collect it, and what we do with it
We use what you send us to answer your enquiry, to open a conflicts check, and, if you retain us, to act on your matter. Form submissions are delivered to the firm's email and recorded in a private spreadsheet under the firm's Google Workspace account. We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it.
Please do not send us confidential details before we are retained
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become files are kept only as long as we need them to run a conflicts check and to show that we responded. Where we are retained, client records are kept for the period required by the Law Society of Ontario's by-laws and our professional obligations.
Who else sees it
Service providers that operate parts of this site and our practice see data as part of providing that service: Cloudflare (hosting and security), Google (Workspace email, Google Sheets, Google Analytics, and Google Apps Script, which processes form submissions). Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States, and information held there may be accessible to foreign courts and law enforcement. We disclose client information otherwise only with your instructions or where the law or our professional obligations require it.
Cookies
This site sets Google Analytics cookies to measure traffic. It does not run advertising or remarketing pixels. You can block cookies in your browser, or install Google's opt-out add-on. The site works either way.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw consent to being contacted. Write to info@rohanlegal.ca. Withdrawing consent does not affect our obligations on a file we are already acting on. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
